Today I'm at the EDD office/career center. Man, I've been calling the EDD 800 number for like two weeks - not having a phone at home I've had to try whenever I'm at a phone, ask people to use their phones, etc - and all I would get was a message saying "due to the high volume of requests, whoomp de whoomp whoomp, please try your call again later..." I even tried just pushing "0" or some other numbers, but it was just a damn message. Finally I get here, wait 30 minutes to use one of their "courtesy phones", and after an 11 minute wait on hold FINALLY got my claim in. Dang.

So, I haven't gotten a job offer yet, but it's Monday and my mail hasn't run, so I hope this afternoon there'll be something for me.

In the meantime, here are some books I've read lately:

Sassafras, Cypress and Indigo, by Ntozake Shange
Betsey Brown, by Ntozake Shange
West of Rehoboth, by Alecs Pate
This is Reggae Music, by Lloyd Bradley
The Night Inspector, by Frederick Busch
Fearless Jones, by Walter Mosley
Floating in My Mother's Palm, by Ursula Hegi.

Not much else going on these days, just lookin & hopin for work. And by the by, I just want to say thanx to folx like George, Elisabeth, Philo, Choire, Amy & Danielle for the good vibes & prayer & words of support & encouragement. I just wish I was able to check in & chat more often.

Man, Blogger publishing is temporarily unavailable, and who knows when I'll get back to the library. But I'll post this anyway, and publish it later sometime.

I got the results of my county tests, and now I'm waiting for a job offer to come in the mail. Can you believe 12 people did better than me? Sheesh. I was number 001 the first time I took a county test...granted, it was for a position I've got way more experience at, but still...anyway, I'm hoping I'll get an offer SOON like this week or next. I NEED AN INCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
