I haven't been out of the house much since I had another hernia repair operation in January. Yep, I ripped another hole in my gut & they put even more plastic in me to hold it all together. I'm dealing with lots of pain and a messy house, because it just hurts to much to do housework. I need a strong person to come in & move furniture, and carry stuff down my stairs so I can take about a ton of junk to the Salvation Army.
A couple weekends ago I took a test for Alameda County, to be of all things a welfare eligibility clerk. It was a two-hour test, & I finished it in about 50 minutes. When they put those test booklets down in front of me it's like they're giving me a puzzle book. It's more fun than anything. I know I got everything right, except for maybe one or two of the math questions. I'm sure I'll pass the other tests too - I've done it before - and I'll have a job offer in a month or so. It'll be pretty cool to go from standing in line getting food stamps to giving them out.
I need a job hella bad, I haven't had money to wash clothes or buy lotto tickets or anything. Which is why I'm giving up my hopes for a cool job and settling for becoming a dreaded bureaucrat. Gotta feed the kid.
I don't know when I'll get online again, and even though I'm not doing much there's so much to blog about, mostly about what Jayden is doing these days. He's doing well at Head Start, even though he's definitely what some folx call a "spirited child". But Head Start is the best place for a kid like him to be, because they've got action at all the behaviorists, speech pathologists, and other resources. He's smart as a whip and funny too. Just today we had a conversation that went:
"Mommy, I like your tush."
(incredulously)"You do?!"
"Yeah. It's really, really big" (this complete with outstretched arms)
"Well, uh, gee, thanks Jayden..."
"I can't BELIEVE how big your tush is!!"
"Shut up, kid!"
